“Obesity is a complex metabolic disease, not a failure of willpower.”
— Dr. Nika Jani

At One Care Medical, we treat weight management as the medical issue it is. Our program combines nutritional science, behavioral support, and modern pharmacotherapy — including GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro — to safely lower your body’s metabolic set point. The entire program is supervised directly by Dr. Jani, a Board Certified Internist with deep training in metabolic health.
What Medical Weight Loss Is — and Isn’t
Medical weight loss is not surgery, and it’s not over-the-counter diet pills. It’s physician-directed weight management based on the actual science of how the body stores and burns fat. Your metabolism, body composition, and overall health profile drive every recommendation — not a one-size-fits-all meal plan.
Because Dr. Jani is your primary care physician as well as your weight-loss physician, she can adjust medications you take for other conditions if they happen to be working against your weight loss — something a stand-alone weight-loss clinic simply can’t do.

Our 3-Phase Program
Every patient’s plan is personalized, but the structure follows three phases — each with the same four components: nutrition, activity, behavior, and medical support.
Phase 1
Quick Start
Establish momentum with a physician-prescribed nutritional plan designed for safe, rapid initial weight loss. Where appropriate, Dr. Jani may also prescribe GLP-1 medication to reduce appetite and address the underlying metabolic drivers of weight gain. Behavioral counseling starts on day one — this is where you build the habits the next two phases rely on.
Phase 2
Transition
You’ve lost meaningful weight and you can feel the difference. Now we reintroduce a broader range of foods at controlled portions, refine your activity level, and continue the behavioral work. Dr. Jani monitors your response and adjusts your medical plan as your metabolism changes. The goal here is to teach your body and your habits to stay at your new weight.
Phase 3
Maintenance
You’ve reached your goal. Many patients also find that chronic conditions tied to their weight — blood pressure, blood sugar, joint pain — are dramatically improved. We continue to support you with periodic check-ins so the work sticks for the long term. This is when weight loss becomes longevity.

Your First Weight-Loss Visit
- Medical history review. Dr. Jani goes over your full medical history including any prescription or over-the-counter medications. Understanding your overall health is essential to designing a safe plan.
- Body Composition Analysis (BCA). A specialized scale gives a breakdown of fat, muscle, and water percentages in your body, plus your resting metabolism and blood pressure. This is your baseline.
- One-on-one consultation. Dr. Jani reviews your history and BCA results, then sits down to understand your goals and challenges. You leave with a personalized plan and a doctor who knows you.
Common Questions
Will my insurance cover any of this?
Often, yes. Many insurance plans cover obesity counseling and treatment for patients with a BMI of 30 or above when seen by a primary care physician with specialized training in obesity — which is exactly what Dr. Jani offers. Call our office and we’ll verify your specific plan’s coverage.
One important note: “covered” doesn’t mean free. You’re still responsible for your plan’s standard copays — just like with any other office visit. The program is generally very affordable, but we want you to know what to expect up front.
Is this safe if I have diabetes, high blood pressure, or other conditions?
Yes — in fact, the program is especially well-suited to patients managing diabetes, hypertension, and similar conditions. Sustainable weight loss often improves these conditions and can reduce the medications you need. Because Dr. Jani is also your primary care physician, she manages everything together.
Do I have to take weight-loss medication?
No. Medication is one tool among several — for some patients it’s a game-changer, for others it’s not needed at all. Dr. Jani will only prescribe medication if she believes it’s safe and appropriate for your situation, and only with your consent.
Is exercise required?
Not required, but strongly encouraged once it’s safe for you. We’ll recommend activity that fits your body composition and physical ability — nothing extreme, nothing that gets in the way of your other health needs.
How fast will I see results?
Most patients see measurable weight loss within the first two weeks and continue losing steadily through the Quick Start phase. Pace varies by individual — what matters more than the first month is whether the change holds at the one-year and two-year mark.
